Howdy, I’m Ashley.

I’m an Arizona cowgirl who takes pride in owning design projects end-to-end, to deliver well-researched, user-centered, data-driven solutions that drive conversion and increase revenue. Yee-haw!

Design Values

Transparency

Providing users with the most possible information gives a great user experience - and leads to more conversion and retention.

User Flexibility

Users should be able to personalize their experience.

Accessibility

As many as 1 in 4 US adults have a disability (source: CDC). Adapting digital products to users’ visual, motor and cognitive differences is not only legally compliant - it just makes sense.

Expertise

Accessibility

I launched my UX career specializing in UX and Accessibility Audits as a freelancer.

As the first full-time designer at a startup, I immediately improved accessibility by revamping the product’s color palette for better contrast and recommending best practices like minimum touch targets.

Following a company rebrand, I conducted a comprehensive accessibility audit of both the public site and web app, producing a detailed report that guided design and engineering teams, reduced compliance risks, and enhanced platform accessibility for numerous users.

User Research

During my career, I’ve employed dozens of moderated and unmoderated, quantitative and qualitative studies, to optimize the user experience, including:

  • interviews

  • usability testing

  • first-click testing

  • survey

  • preference testing

  • card sorts

  • tree testing

Incorporating open-ended, exploratory questions to understand users’ beliefs, attitudes, mental models, expectations and memory recall.

Problem Solving

To date, I have successfully designed and delivered over a dozen impactful features, each meticulously crafted to address distinct user challenges.

My approach consistently involves adeptly navigating complex time and technical constraints to align with business objectives and implement innovative solutions that enhance the customer experience.

Content Design

I came to UX/UI with a robust background in communication as a published writer and seasoned content creator.

My experience has consistently focused on crafting and refining impactful copy and microcopy, driving user engagement through meticulous writing and rigorous testing.

This deep understanding of content strategy and user interaction allows me to create compelling, user-centered designs that elevate the overall experience.

A Few Things I Love:

  • Cats

My cats Batman and Matrix are my reason to get up in the morning - because they demand to be fed.

  • Plants

I love plants and eating avocado - so of course I have a small farm of sprouted avocado pits on my kitchen counter!

  • Games

I've enjoyed video games since I was a kid. Some of my recent favorites are Stray, It Takes Two, Animal Crossing, Palia, and Mario Kart 8.

  • Arizona

I live in the beautiful state of Arizona, where I love to hike, camp and swim year-round.

Mentoring

I want to help more people break into design, especially those from marginalized communities who maybe don’t feel like they fit in Design or Tech fields, so I’m currently mentoring Junior UX/UI Designers on ADPList.org. You can see my current availability and book with me under the Contact Me tab.
